Film Director Brad Carr, along with Dance Artist/Choreographer Ralph “Plik Plok” Montejo delve into the history of the “Robot Dance” culture in the Northern Bay Area’s City of Richmond, California USA, capturing the robotic movement of dancers with moves so fascinating, and filled with rich history that they warrant a special disclaimer. The “mechanical”, educational documentary centers on the city’s natives, and their perspective stories on “ROBOT DANCE”, and the social components that evolved from the community’s local “Talent Shows” of the 1970’s and early 1980’s at the Richmond Memorial Auditorium. This kept the neighborhood children out of trouble, allowing them to focus on competition, showmanship and prize money; prior to the emergence of the Bay Area drug wars and the associated violence. Co-Directed by Ralph “Plik Plok” Montejo.
